Pecan delight

Pecan Delight

1/2 pound butter
1 1/2 pounds confectioners sugar
6 egg yolks
1 cup pecans, broken
6 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring
4 1/2 dozen vanilla wafers

Cream butter and confectioners sugar. Add egg yolks, one at a time and beat after each addition. Add broken pecans. Add egg whites, stiffly beaten. Add flavorings. Crush wafers. Put 1/2 in bottom of pan. Fill with pecan mixture and top with crushed vanilla wafers. Let stand 24 hours. Serve with whipped cream or whipped dessert topping/
