Here is a recipe from 1967 to take care of the those sells on bananas besides eating them and making banana bread or pudding.
Banana Apple Betty
2 tart apples, pared and cored
3 firm bananas
3/4 cup sugar
3 Tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups soft bread crumbs
Slice apples and cut bananas crosswise into 1/2 -inch pieces. Combine fruit, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Mix bread crumbs with butter. Place alternate layers of crumbs and fruit into well-buttered baking dish. Use crumbs on top and bottom layers. Cover and bake 40 minutes at 375 degrees. Uncover and continue baking 5 minutes longer. Serve hot with cream.
