Grandmother`s Special Loaf Cake
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
3 eggs
1cup milk
3 1/2 cup cake flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon mace
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon lemon extract
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, unbeaten and one at a time. Sift flour and measure, but reserve 1 cup to be sifted with dry ingredients. Beginning with flour, alternate it in thirds with milk. End with reserved flour. Keep batter smooth. Add flavorings last. Bake in well-greased and floured pan at 350 degrees.
