Onion-Beef Roulade

Whew ,it has been a long time since I have posted a main dish...so for todays recipe will not be one but two.......

these are from 1968....if anybody wanted to know...finally on a different year of the Kansas City Kansan`s Silver Spoon cookbook.

Onion-Beef Roulade
Mrs. Andrew Kuzila

8 minutes or cube steaks
instant unseasoned meat tenderized
16 green onions
3 Tablespoon flour
2 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 can or 1 envelope onion soup mix
1 1/2 cups boiling water

Moisten minute steaks and sprinkle with meat tenderizer, following label directions. ( If using cube steaks tenderizer is not needed). Trim green onions a little wider then steaks. place 2 on end of each steak; roll up, jelly rolls fashion and fasten with wooden picks. Sprinkle rolls with flour; brown in vegetable oil in large frying pan.
Stir onion soup mix into boiling water and pour over steak rolls. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until meat is tender. Remove rolls from pan and keep warm while making gravy. Smooth remaining flour in a little water to make a paste; stir in onion mixture. Cook, stirring constantly until gravy thickens and boils 1 minutes. Arrange steak rolls on platter and spoon gravy on top.
