With all those blackberries out there , thought it would be a good time to post this.....the blackberries I pick are done for this year.
Blackberry Cake
2 cup sugar
3/4 cup shortening
3 to 5 eggs
3 cup flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup sour milk
1 cup blackberries, partly drained
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon soda
1/4 cup hot water
Mix soda and hot water. Cream sugar, eggs and shortening. Sift flour, cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, allspice and salt . Add to creamed mixture. Add sour milk, mix well. Add soda and blackberries. Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan 35 minutes at 375 degrees
